　　on behalf of my colleagues, i wish to give my warm eongratulations on thc holding of the photo exhibition"scenery of yunnan, guizhou and sichuan."

　　talking of scenery and landscape,there are many similarities and contrasts betweenchina and canada. both have land masses that are among the world's largest. both have some of the world' smost impressive mountains, rivers and lakes. buteach has things that are special to itself. the chinese are surprised by the fact that canadian furtraders of the early years were actually able to sailon canoes from the atlantic to the pacific through thousands upon thousands of lakes spread out from eastern to western canada, while canadians find the mountains drawn by chinese painters on scrolls utterly surreal.no chinese visitors would leave canada contented without seeing the'niagara falls.

　　no canadian visitors tochina would feel satisfied just seeing the great wall without also touring the three gorges, for that matter.

　　the exhibition of scenery of yunnan, guizhou and sichuan brings us to yet another world. to those who have been to china,it will provoke reminiscences and to those who have not been to china, it may prove to be an irresistible invitation.

　　not wanting to bore you with my pale description, ladies and gentlemen, i would like you now to join me in marvelling at these works of art.

　　my family

　　there are three people in my family. i'm a boy(girl). i'm ten years old. my dad is a worker. my mother is a worker too. and i have a dog. its name's john. it alaways play with me. and i also love him. this is my family. do you like us?

　　我家三个人.我是一个男孩(女生).我今年十岁.我的爸爸是个职工.我妈妈也是个职工.我有一条狗.它的名字叫做john.它一直和我一起玩.我就爱它.这是我的家.你喜爱大家吗?

　　my hobby

　　i'm a boy. my hobby is playing basketball. i often play basketball with my best friend after class. i think it's really fun and exciting. but my mother told me get home early. this is my hobby. what are your hobby? can you tell me?

　　我是一个男孩.我的爱好是打蓝球.我经常在下课后和我非常好些的好朋友.我觉得它很有意思而且很刺激性.可是我妈妈跟我说早点回家.这也是我的爱好.你的爱好是什么?能跟我说吗?

　　my hobby

　　i'm a girl. i like to colloct shells. so i often go to sea on vacation. i think sea is really beautiful. and the shells are beautiful too. now i have twenty shells. i also have lefree time to go to vacation. so i can't get more shells. this is my hobby. what are your hobby? can you tell me?

　　我是一个女孩.我很喜欢搜集珍珠贝.因此我经常在假日时到海边.我觉得海洋很漂亮.而且珍珠贝也一样好看.如今我有二十个珍珠贝.我有非常少的闲暇时长去度假.因此我不能获得越来越多的珍珠贝.这也是我的爱好.你的爱好是什么?能跟我说吗?

　　no.1 a helping hand 伸出援手

　　a man who lived in a block of apartments thought it was raining and put his head out the window to check. as he did so a glaeye fell into his hand.

　　he looked up to see where it came from in time to see a young woman looking down.

　　"is this yours?" he asked.

　　she said, "yes, could you bring it up?" and the man agreed.

　　on arrival she was profuse in her thanks and offered the man a drink. as she was very attractive he agreed. shortly afterwards she said, "i'm about to have dinner. there's plenty. would you like to join me?"

　　he readily accepted her offer and both enjoyed a lovely meal. as the evening was drawing to a close the lady said, "i've had a marvelous evening. would you like to stay the night?"

　　the man hesitated then said, "do you act like this with every man you meet?"

　　"no," she replied, "only those who catch my eye."

　　no.2 a place to sleep 入睡的地区

　　by the time john pulled into the little town, every hotel room was taken. "you've got to have a room somewhere." he pleaded. "or just a bed--i don't care where."

　　"well, i do have a double room with one occupant," admitted the manager," and he might be glad to split the cost. but to tell you the truth, he snores so loudly that people in adjoining rooms have complained in the past. i'm not sure it'd be worth it to you."

　　"no problem," the tired traveler assured him. "i'll take it."

　　the next morning, john came down to breakfast bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. when asked about how he slept, he replied, "never better."

　　the manager was impressed. "no problem with the other guy snoring, then?"

　　"nope. i shut him up in no time."

　　"how'd you manage that?"

　　"he was already in bed, snoring away, when i came in the room," john said. "i went over, gave him a kion the cheek, said, 'goodnight, beautiful.' with that he sat up all night watching me."

　　the pure.the bright,the beautiful, 一切纯真的,光辉的,漂亮的,

　　that stirred our hearts in youth, 明显地震撼人心着咱们年青的内心的,

　　the impulses to wordleprayer, 促进着大家做不言的祈祷的,

　　the dreams of love and truth; 使我们理想着爱与真知的;

　　the longing after something‘s lost, 在丧失后为此觉得爱惜的,

　　the spirit‘s yearning cry, 使生命真切地叫喊着的,

　　the striving after better hopes- 为了更好地更美丽的理想而努力着的-

　　these things can never die. 这种幸福不容易消失。

　　the timid hand stretched forth to aid 腼腆地外伸支援的手，

　　a brother in his need, 在你的弟兄必须的情况下，

　　a kindly word in grief‘s dark hour 伤恸、艰难的情况下，一句亲近得话

　　that proves a friend indeed ; 就足够证实好朋友的真心实意;

　　the plea for mercy softly breathed, 轻轻地地恳求同情，

　　when justice threatens nigh, 在审理邻近的情况下，

　　the sorrow of a contrite heart- 悔恨的心有一种悲伤--

　　these things shall never die. 这种幸福不容易消失。

　　let nothing pafor every hand 在人间歌曲传送温暖

　　must find some work to do ; 尽你能够地去做;

　　lose not a chance to waken love- 别错失去唤起爱的好时机-----

　　be firm,and just ,and true; 为人正直要坚定不移，刚正不阿，忠实;

　　so shall a light that cannot fade 因而上边映照着你的那道光辉

　　beam on thee from on high. 就不易消退。

　　and angel voices say to thee---你将听见天使的声音在说-----

　　these things shall never die. 这种幸福不容易消失。

　　4、青年人 youth

　　youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshne; it is the freshneof the deep springs of life .

　　youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we grow old by deserting our ideals.

　　years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .

　　whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . in the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wirelestation : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courag

　　5、我们中国人 am chinese

　　ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,

　　i am chinese. i am proud of being a chinese with five thousand years of civilization behind. i've learned about the four great inventions made by our forefathers. i've learned about the great wall and the yangtze river. i've learned about zhang heng(张衡)and i've learned about zheng he(郑和).who says the yellow river civilization has vanished(消退)?i know that my ancestors have made miracles(惊喜)on this fertile land and we're still ma-ki-ng miracles. who can ignore the fact that we have established ourselves as a great state in the world, that we have devised our own nuclear weapons, that we have successfully sent our satellites into space, and that our gnp ranks no. 7 in the world? we have experienced the plunders (抢掠) by other nations, and we have experienced the war. yet, based on such ruins, there still stands our nation----china, unyielding and unconquerable!

　　i once came acroan american tourist. she said, “china has a history of five thousand years, but the us only has a history of 200 years. five thousand years ago, china took the lead in the world, and now it is the us that is leading.”my heart was deeply touched by these words. it is true that we're still a developing nation, but it doesn't mean that we can despise (瞧不起) ourselves. we have such a long-standing history, we have such abundant resources, we have such intelligent and diligent people, and we have enough to be proud of. we have reasons to say proudly： we are sure to take the lead in the world in the future again, for our problems are big, but our ambition (壮志) is even bigger, our challenges (考验) are great, but our will is evengreater.

　　i am chinese. i have inherited (承继) black hair and blackeyes. i have inherited the virtues of my ancestors. i have also taken over responsibility. i am sure, that wherever i go, whatever i do, i shall never forget that i am chinese!

　　good afternoon! i‟m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is “youth”. i hope you will like it , and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.

　　first i want to ask you some questions: 1、 do you know what is youth? 2、 how do you master your youth?

　　youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .

　　whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being „s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what‟s next and the joy of the game of living . in the center of your heart and my heart there‟s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

　　when the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.
